Let Go of the Wheel

By: Lara Velez

I love that song, "Jesus Take the Wheel," by Carrie Underwood. It is very powerful. Those words NEED to be In us!

Have you ever suffered from Jr. Holy Spirit Syndrome? I have. LOL. It's when you try to control the spiritual aspects of your marriage. We need to stop trying to mold our husbands into what "we" consider good spiritual leaders. Only GOD knows what a good spiritual leader is. Only God knows what kind of leader EACH husband should be.

We are not honoring them by trying to lead the, God made THEM the leaders. Society does not accept what God ordained a woman's role to be. That is irrelevant. The husband is the leader. God's Word is the final authority...NOT the culture. Period.

We learned a lot about this in our Jezebel Infection study.

Let Go of the Wheel, and let Jesus Drive!

How?

  1. Understand that God deals with each of us differently, and your husband is not you.
  2. Realize that we cannot make our husbands have the same convictions as we do. Only God convicts.
  3. Trust God to take care of the areas where your husband does need to submit to the Lord.
  4. Pray for your husband daily.
  5. Be specific when you pray.
  6. Get real with God.
  7. Turn the mirror around on yourself.
  8. Ask God to help you with your issues, instead of making all your problems about your husband's faults.
Application Prayer:

Daddy God, please forgive me for the times that I have taken the wheel out of Your MORE than capable hands and have tried to make things happen my way. Forgive me for allowing my selfish desires to cloud my judgment. Help me to accept my husband as he is. Help me to turn to You to have my needs met. Help me to give you the wheel and LET you drive. Thank You! In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen!

Until Next Time,

Lara
