Get the spark back in your marriage! "Keep the romance flowing by writing little notes and putting them places he will find while he is not with you, like on the steering wheel of his car or in his coat pocket. Wife as Helper? The pastor at my church is doing a series on "Desperate Households". For several weeks he is addressing various topics that deal with family and the sustaining of the home. Last Sunday he spoke about the wife's role or should I say roles. His starting verse was Genesis 2:20 where it says " But for Adam no suitable helper was found."

He shared two common view points to this verse : the chauvinist man who feels like the wife is designed to clean, feed, take care, etc. etc. and the feminist women who refuses the God because of subordinate verses like this.

As my pastor continued to speak he said that the Hebrew word used for "helper" in this verse is the same word to describe God many times throughout the Bible. Such as all those times David refers to God as his help and strength. I loved this revelation because as wives we are designed to be our husband's helper by being their strength, by building them up, by cheering them on, by encouraging their works. When our husbands come home from a stressful job we can tell them how much we appreciate them, we can compliment their help around the house or with the kids, we can tell them that they're handsome - we have to help our husbands be the men that God desires them to be.
